ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Tanker boot

Imagine you have a big bathtub full of water. You want to take the water from the bathtub to a different room, but you can't just pick up the whole bathtub and move it. So, you use a smaller container, like a bucket, to scoop up the water and carry it to the other room.

Now imagine that instead of water, the bathtub is full of a thick liquid, like oil or mud. It's too heavy to lift with a bucket, and even if you could, you wouldn't want to spill any of it. This is where a tanker boot comes in.

A tanker boot is a big, rubbery bag that attaches to the bottom of a tanker truck. The truck backs up to a storage tank filled with the thick liquid, and a hose is attached between the two. The tanker boot inflates to create a seal around the storage tank opening, and the tanker truck sucks up the liquid through the hose and into its tank.

Once the tanker truck is full, it drives to its destination, and the tanker boot deflates, allowing the liquid to be emptied out of the truck. This way, the liquid can be safely and efficiently transported without spilling or wasting any of it.
