Tarnak Farm incident

Okay, imagine you and your friends are playing with some toys in a field. Suddenly, some grown-ups come and start shooting at you and your friends with guns. You don’t understand why they are doing this and you start to get really scared. This is kind of what happened at the Tarnak Farm Incident.

In the year 2002, during the war in Afghanistan, a group of American soldiers were flying in a plane over a farm in Afghanistan. They thought that some bad guys were hiding in the farm and decided to attack them from the plane. Unfortunately, they were wrong. The people they attacked were actually good guys who were just having a normal day on the farm.

The good guys were a group of Canadian soldiers who were training Afghan fighters. They were all sleeping in tents when the American plane started shooting at them. Four Canadians were killed and eight others were injured. This was a really sad and scary accident that happened during a terrible time.

After the Tarnak Farm Incident, the American military apologized to Canada for what happened. They also promised to be more careful when attacking places in the future. This is important because it shows that even in war, people need to be careful to make sure innocent people don’t get hurt.
