Taurus (Chinese astronomy)

Taurus is a group of stars that are close together and look like a bull's head and horns in the sky. Long ago, people in China noticed these stars and thought they looked like a magical creature called Niu, which means "ox" or "cow" in Chinese.

In Chinese astronomy, people believed that the stars had special powers and could affect what happens on Earth. They saw Taurus as a symbol of strength, power, and hard work, like a strong bull plowing a field.

Throughout the year, Taurus appears in different parts of the sky, moving with the seasons. Chinese astronomers watched these movements and created a special calendar called the Chinese zodiac, based on the position of the stars.

According to the Chinese zodiac, people born in the year of the Ox (which is symbolized by Taurus) are thought to have traits like being hardworking, honest, and dependable. They are also thought to be patient like a bull, but stubborn at times.

So, Taurus in Chinese astronomy is not just a group of stars, but a powerful symbol and part of an ancient calendar that helps people understand the world around them.
