Taxation in the United Kingdom

Taxation in the United Kingdom is a system where the government collects money from people and businesses to help pay for the things it needs. This money is collected in taxes. For example, when you shop, the government puts taxes on goods like food, clothes and cars, and the money from the taxes is used to fund the NHS, schools, the police, and other important services. The UK also collects taxes from people and businesses on their earnings and income, which helps to pay for the same services. Everyone in the UK has to pay taxes, and the more you earn, the more you pay in taxes.
