Telescoping generations means that people who are older than you seem like they're from a really long time ago, but people who are younger than you seem like they're from a really short time ago. It's like when you hear stories from your grandparents about the olden days, but then you talk to your little brother about something that happened last year and it feels like it just happened yesterday. So, as you get older, the amount of time that seems like a long time ago gets bigger, but the amount of time that seems like a short time ago gets smaller.
