ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Temporary folder

Okay kiddo, so imagine you're doing some homework on your computer. Sometimes, you might need to use some extra tools or programs to help you finish your work.
Now, when you use these tools, they need a special place to save some information while they're working.
Think of it like a kitchen table - you might need to use different tools like scissors or glue for your craft project, but you don't want to just leave them lying around on the table because they might get in the way of your work.
So, these special tools save their information in a special place on your computer called a temporary folder. It's like a table just for them to keep their tools and materials.
But, the special thing about this folder is that it's only temporary, like you're just using the table for that one day and then you put everything away in its proper place.
Once the tool is done with its work, it cleans up after itself and leaves the folder empty and ready for the next tool to use.
Just like you clean up your craft table after you're done using it!
