Terrorism and social media

Terrorism is when somebody or a group of people use violence, or threaten to use violence, to scare or hurt people who don’t agree with them. Social media is a way of communicating and sharing information using computers and the internet.

Terrorists can use social media to spread their ideas and to spread news about the violence they use or plan to use. They can use social media to create or strengthen relationships with people who agree with their ideas so that they can get more help in carrying out their plans. They can also use social media to raise money or recruit people to join their cause.
