ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language

So, imagine you are trying to learn a language that is not your native language - like Chinese! The Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language is like a really big test that helps you show how well you have learned Chinese.

The test has different parts, just like you have different classes in school. There is a listening part where you have to hear a Chinese person speaking and answer questions about what they said. There is a reading part where you have to read Chinese words and sentences and understand what they mean. There is a writing part where you have to write Chinese characters that mean something. And there is a speaking part where you have to speak Chinese words and phrases that someone else can understand.

They give you a score for each part of the test, and then they add up all the scores to see how well you did overall. If you get a really high score, it means you are really good at speaking and understanding Chinese, which is super impressive!
