The Thai Forest Tradition is a branch of Buddhism. In this branch of Buddhism, monks and nuns practice a type of meditation that helps them to focus on the present moment. Monks and nuns of this tradition travel to forests and meditate for long periods of time in order to reach higher states of spiritual understanding. They believe that by going into the forest, they are able to develop a deeper connection with nature. They also use the natural environment to focus their minds and hearts on understanding deeper meanings of the Buddhist teachings.
