ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Thain

Hey there! "Thain" is a word that comes from a place called Thailand. Thailand is a country far away from where we live! In Thailand, they used to have a very important person called the "Thain."

The Thain was kind of like the king or queen in other countries. They were very important and powerful, and people listened to what they said. People paid respect to the Thain by bowing down and using polite language when they spoke to them.

Nowadays, Thailand has a different kind of government and doesn't have a Thain anymore. But the word is still sometimes used to mean someone who is in charge or has a lot of power.

Does that make sense?
