The 100-Mile Diet

Have you ever heard of the 100-mile diet, kiddo? It's when people try to eat only food that comes from within 100 miles (160 kilometers) of where they live.

Think about it like this: imagine you live in a house in the countryside, and there's a farm nearby that grows vegetables and raises cows for milk and meat. If you were following the 100-mile diet, you would only eat veggies from that farm, and meat and milk from those cows.

The idea behind this diet is that it's more sustainable for the environment, because the food doesn't have to travel very far to get to your plate, and it supports local farmers because you're buying their products. Plus, it can be healthier because the food is often fresher and less processed.

Of course, it can be tricky to follow the 100-mile diet all the time, especially if you really love some foods that don't grow or raise well in your area (like bananas, for example, which don't grow in many places outside of the tropics). But some people like to give it a try for a week or a month, just to see what it's like!
