ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

The Long Walk Home

When you go on a walk, sometimes you might get tired and just want to stop and rest. But imagine if your walk was really, really long - like from one end of the city to the other. That's what we call a "long walk."

Now imagine that you don't have a car or a bus to ride in, so you have to walk the whole way. Maybe you're walking because you don't have any other choice, or because you're trying to prove something to yourself or other people. Whatever the reason, it's going to be a really hard journey.

When you start walking, you might feel excited and determined to make it all the way. But after a little while, your feet might start to hurt, your legs might feel tired, and you might start to wonder if it's really worth all this effort.

But if you keep going, eventually you'll start to see signs of progress. Maybe you'll pass a landmark that you recognize, or you'll see the end of the road getting closer. These small victories will help you keep going, even when it feels like you might not make it.

Finally, after what feels like forever, you'll reach your destination. Maybe it's your home or a friend's house, but wherever it is, you'll feel so proud of yourself for making it all the way there by yourself. And you'll probably feel pretty exhausted, too - but that's okay, because you did something really amazing.

That, my friend, is the long walk home. It's not easy, but it's worth it when you get there.
