ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

The Nature of the Firm

The nature of the firm means the way companies or businesses are organized. A firm has a structure that includes different types of people, like owners, managers and workers, who each have different jobs to do. The owners are the people who started the business and own it. They decide on how to run the business, like what products or services to offer and how to make money. Managers are in charge of making sure that things get done - they plan and organize activities, set goals and make sure everyone is doing what they need to do. Workers are the people who actually do the work each day - they carry out the tasks that make up the day-to-day operations of the business. Together, everyone in the firm works together to make sure the business succeeds.
