The Stendhal Syndrome

The Stendhal Syndrome is when someone looks at lots of pretty art at once and they get very overwhelmed and feel like they might faint or become very emotional. It's like when you eat too much candy and your tummy hurts, but this time it's because your eyes have seen too much beautiful artwork. It's named after a French writer named Stendhal who had a similar experience when he visited Florence in Italy and saw lots of beautiful artwork all at once. It's not a dangerous thing, but some people might need to take a break or leave the art museum if they feel too overwhelmed.
