The Two Babylons is a book written by Reverend Alexander Hislop. It is about how ancient Babylon (an ancient city-state located in what is now Iraq) influenced religions and practices around the world. Hislop claimed that the religious beliefs, practices, and rites of the ancient Babylonians were still influencing present-day Christianity and other religions. He argued that a lot of the symbols, images, and ideas that we find in religions today were actually taken from ancient Babylon. For example, Hislop claimed that many Christian beliefs, such as the idea that Jesus was born from a virgin, were actually copied from Babylonian paganism. Hislop's book caused a lot of controversy when it was published in the 1800s, and it still causes debate today.
