The path of the flaming sword

So imagine there is a magical sword that is on fire. The path of the flaming sword is basically the journey that this sword takes as it moves from one place to another.

Now, imagine that the sword is in your hand, and you want to take it somewhere. You have two options to do that: you can either hold the sword with your hand and walk to your destination or you can throw the sword in the direction of where you want it to go.

If you throw the sword, it will leave a different path of flames wherever it goes, and you'll be able to trace its path as it travels through the air.
