ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Thematic equative

Imagine you have two things, a toy car and a real car. Even though they are different, they both share a common theme, which is being a car. Thematic equative is like saying "the toy car is a car just like the real car." This is because they share a theme or a category even though they are not exactly the same thing. So, if two things have something in common, we can say they are equal in that aspect, just like the toy car and the real car are equal in being cars. In other words, thematic equative means comparing two things that share a common theme or category.
