Theodore Roosevelt McElroy was a famous American soldier, explorer, and conservationist. He was born in 1865 and was one of the most famed figures from the early 20th Century. He was known for leading an expedition in 1911 to explore the unknown section of the Amazon River. He also served in the U.S. Cavalry and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery in the Spanish-American War. He was also an avid outdoorsman, and helped create some of the earliest laws to protect wildlife. He worked to encourage people to take care of the environment, and to not take more than they need from nature. He served as an inspiration to many people who wanted to make a difference in the way we treat nature.
