ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Thermocouple MCT

A thermocouple is like a thermometer that can measure really high temperatures. It has two wires made of different metals that are connected together at one end. When you heat up the other end of the wires, the difference in the metals causes a tiny electric current to flow. Scientists can measure this electric current to figure out how hot the wires are.

MCT stands for "miniature connector thermometer" and refers to the part of the thermocouple that connects it to other equipment. It's like a plug that goes into a socket. The MCT allows the thermocouple to send its temperature readings to other instruments, like computers or control systems, so we can keep track of how hot things are and control the temperature if needed.
