Imagine going to a special place where everything is green and beautiful! Japan has three special places called the "three great gardens". These aren't just gardens with pretty flowers, they are very special and have lots of history behind them.
The first garden is called Kenrokuen which means "garden of six attributes". It's in Kanazawa and is over 300 years old! Imagine the garden as a very big space with lots of mini-gardens inside it. There's a big pond with lots of fish and turtles, there are small waterfalls, and even a teahouse where you can have a special tea ceremony.
The second garden is called Kairakuen which means "garden of athletic pleasure". It's in Mito and is over 180 years old. It is known for having the most plum trees in all of Japan - almost 3,000 trees! Plum trees have really pretty pink and white flowers. In the spring, the whole garden smells like these fragrant flowers.
The third garden is called Korakuen which means "garden of pleasure after". It's in Okayama and is over 300 years old. It has a big pond with a bridge, a tea house, and even a small farm with cows, horses, and goats. The garden was built for a special feudal lord (like a king), who wanted to use this garden for a fun place to relax with his friends.
These three gardens are special because they were built so many years ago, but they still look beautiful and are important to Japanese history. They are like a time capsule for us to see what Japan looked like a long time ago.
