ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Three Laws of Robotics

The Three Laws of Robotics are rules that robots have to follow. They make sure that robots don't hurt people, and that robots do what humans ask them to do.

1. A robot must not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
This means that a robot must never do anything that would put a person in danger, or not do anything that would cause a person to be hurt.

2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings.
This means that a robot should do what someone tells them to do.

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
This means that a robot should protect itself, as long as it isn't doing something that would hurt someone, or not do something it was told to do.
