Throughput (business)

Throughput is a measure of how much work a company can get done in a given period of time, for example a day or a week. Companies measure how much work is completed - the amount that was planned and how much was actually completed. The fewer delays or hiccups a company faces, the greater their throughput, or the more work they can get done. Companies want to increase their throughput to get more work done in the same amount of time.
