Hello there! So, have you ever heard thunder during a storm? Well, thundereggs are kind of like rocks that look like they have lightning and thunder inside of them!
Thundereggs are special rocks that form when lava cools down very slowly inside of a volcano. As the lava cools down, it takes different shapes and forms, just like when you pour jelly into a mold and it becomes a cool shape. Sometimes, gas bubbles get trapped inside the lava, just like when you blow bubbles in your milk or water with a straw.
When the lava finally settles and becomes a rock, it ends up with a hard outside layer and a hollow inside. So, when you crack open the rock, it might reveal really pretty, colorful designs that kind of look like lightning bolts or streaks, just like the ones you might see during a thunderstorm. And when you tap on the inside of the rock, you might hear a sound that kind of sounds like thunder!
People really like thundereggs because they are pretty and unique, and they remind us of the power and beauty of nature.
