Okay kiddo, let's learn about the history of Bratislava. First, we have to go way back in time, before there were even people living here. Then, a long time ago, some people came and started building things.
Around 2000 years ago, the Romans came and built a fort here. They used it to protect their land and trade routes. After the fall of the Roman empire, different groups of people came and went. But starting in the 800s, some people called the Slavs settled here and called this place their home.
Over time, Bratislava grew into a little town with a castle that stood on a hill called the Bratislava castle. Many different kings and queens and important people came here to live or visit. In the 16th century, the town became much bigger and more important as the capital of Hungary.
In the 20th century, Bratislava became part of Czechoslovakia and it was named the capital city of Slovakia when the country became independent.
Today, Bratislava is a bustling city with lots of people and exciting things to see and do. It's really cool to think about all the different people who have lived here and how the city has changed over thousands of years.
