Timeline of Marrakesh
Marrakesh is a place that has been around for a very long time. In fact, people have been living there for over a thousand years!
A long time ago, in the 11th century, a group of people called the Almoravids built a city there. They made it really beautiful and filled it with lots of colorful buildings, gardens, and fountains. They also built a big wall around the city to keep it safe.
A few centuries later, in the 16th century, another group of people called the Saadian Dynasty came to Marrakesh. They ruled for a while and built some new palaces and other really pretty buildings.
Then in the 19th century, some European countries (like France) started to take over parts of Morocco, including Marrakesh. During this time, Marrakesh became a really popular place for tourists to visit.
Finally, in 1956, Morocco became an independent country and Marrakesh has continued to grow and change since then! Today it is still known for its beautiful architecture, colorful markets, and many visitors from all over the world.
