Timeline of Toulouse

So, Toulouse is a city in France that has been around for a really long time. Like, even longer than your parents, or your grandparents, or your great-grandparents.

A really long time ago, like, thousands and thousands of years ago, there were some people who lived in the area that is now Toulouse. They did things like hunt animals and gather food to eat.

Then, a long time after that, the Romans came to the area and built a city there. They called it Tolosa. They built walls around the city to keep it safe.

After the Romans left, a group of people called the Visigoths moved in and made their own rules. They built a big church called Saint-Sernin that is still there today.

Later on, the city became really important because it was on a major trade route. Merchants from all over would bring their goods to sell in Toulouse.

In the 12th century, Toulouse was known for its universities and its scholars. People came from all over to study there.

Then, in the 16th century, there was a big fight over power in France. Toulouse was on the side that was against the king. They lost, and the city was punished. But over time, it grew and became important again.

Now, Toulouse is known for being a center of technology and for having really good food. It’s a popular place to visit and people from all over the world come to see the old buildings and taste the delicious food.
