Timeline of women hazzans in America

Okay, so a long time ago, there weren't many women who were allowed to be hazzans (which means they lead prayers and sing in a special way). But over time, some women started to become hazzans anyway, even though it was kind of unusual.

In the 1970s, some groups started to work on making it easier for women to become hazzans, and in 1975, the first woman was ordained as a hazzan in America. Her name was Betty Robbins, and it was a really big deal because it had never happened before.

After that, more and more women started to become hazzans, and by the 1990s, there were quite a few women who were leading prayers and singing in synagogues. But even today, there are still some people who think only men should be hazzans, so it's still kind of a controversial topic.
