Timeline of women in Medieval warfare

Okay kiddo, let's talk about women in medieval warfare! Back then, people thought that women's job was to stay at home and take care of the house and children. But some women were really brave and wanted to fight in wars too.

During the early Middle Ages, women mostly stayed out of battle. But there were some queens and princesses who led armies and fought alongside the men. One famous lady warrior was Mulan from China, but she lived a long time ago and in a different country.

As time went on, more and more women started joining the military. Some women pretended to be men so they could fight, because it wasn't allowed for them to join the army. They wore men's clothes, cut their hair short, and made their voices sound deeper so nobody knew they were women.

In the late Middle Ages, some countries like France and England even had armies made up entirely of women! These women soldiers were called "meninists" and they would defend their cities and castles.

But not everyone approved of women fighting in wars. Some people said that it was unladylike and they would try to stop them. Women who were discovered pretending to be men or trying to fight were often punished or even killed.

So, while it was tough for them to pursue their passion, there were several brave women who fought in wars during medieval times.
