Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examinations are tests that are given to monks in some Buddhist countries, such as Sri Lanka. The exams are used to choose monks who have knowledge and understanding of the Tipitaka, which is the holy scripture of Theravada Buddhism. The exams are given in the language of Pali, which was the language used in ancient Sri Lanka when the Tipitaka was written. To take these exams, monks must have studied the Tipitaka for many years, and memorized it in its entirety. The tests are designed to select the monks who possess the most knowledge about the teachings of the Tipitaka.
