ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Title IX

Title IX is a law that protects people from being discriminated against on the basis of their gender. It means that schools, universities, and other organizations must give equal opportunities and access to programs to both boys and girls, regardless of their gender. For example, if a school is offering extracurricular activities like sports, they must offer opportunities to both boys and girls and can't favor one over the other. Title IX also means that girls and boys must get the same kind of education, and if girls are not performing as well as boys, the school needs to figure out how to help girls improve. Title IX also protects people from sexual harassment and abuse.
