Toilet-related injuries and deaths

When you go to the bathroom, you sit on a bowl which is called a toilet. Sometimes, people can get hurt while using the toilet. Some of the ways you can get hurt on a toilet are:

- Slipping and falling: Sometimes the floor around the toilet can be slippery because of water or soap. So, when you step on it, you might slip and fall. This can cause injury to your head, arms or legs.
- Getting stuck: Sometimes, when people use the toilet, they sit down and their body parts get stuck in the toilet bowl. This can happen if you are too big or the toilet bowl is too small. And, it can be very painful.
- Electric shock: If the electric wires in the bathroom are not safe, they can become wet and cause electric shock to someone who is using the toilet. This can be very dangerous because it can make your heart stop working.
- Drowning: If you have small children at home, you should make sure they don't play near the toilet because they can fall in and drown. Drowning means being underwater for too long, and not being able to breathe.
- Strangulation: Sometimes, the toilet seats have broken parts that can cut the skin or the neck of the person using the toilet. This can be very dangerous because it can lead to damage to body parts, loss of blood or suffocation.

Although these things can happen, it is very rare for someone to get hurt on a toilet. You just have to use the toilet carefully and make sure it is safe before you sit on it.
