Toli (shamanism)

Okay kiddo, have you heard of shamanism? It’s a traditional way of healing and connecting with nature that has been practiced by many cultures around the world for a long, long time.

Toli is the name of the shamanic tradition in the Buryat culture, which is a group of people who live mainly in Siberia, Russia. Toli shamans are known for their ability to communicate with spirits and use special tools and rituals to heal people of physical and emotional problems.

When a person goes to see a Toli shaman, they might first be asked to explain their problem or what they are seeking guidance on. Then the shaman will perform a ceremony, like chanting, drumming or dancing, to enter a trance state and connect with the spirit world.

In this state, the Toli shaman can communicate with helpful spirits who can offer advice, insight or even perform healing on the person’s behalf. They might use herbs, stones, or other natural materials to create a medicine or amulet that can help the person heal or protect them from harm.

The Toli shaman also acts as a mediator between the person and the spirits, helping to keep a good relationship between them. This is important because in the Buryat culture, it is believed that everything has a spirit, and that it is our responsibility to care for and respect these spirits.

Overall, Toli shamanism is a special way of healing and connecting with the natural world that has been passed down through generations of Buryat people.
