Topical steroid addiction

Okay kiddo, so have you ever had a rash or itchy skin? Sometimes, we use a cream to help make it go away. One type of cream is called a topical steroid cream, and it's supposed to help calm down the rash or itchiness.

But sometimes, if we use too much of this cream on our skin or for too long, our skin can get used to it and start to depend on it. It's kind of like when we eat too much candy and our body starts to crave more sugar. This is called topical steroid addiction.

When our skin gets addicted to the cream, it can start to get worse instead of better when we stop using the cream. Our skin might get more red, itchy, and irritated than it was before we started using the cream.

So, it's important to use these creams only as much as we need and for the amount of time our doctor tells us to. And if we notice our skin getting worse instead of better after using the cream, we should talk to our doctor about it.
