Torture and the United States
Torture is when someone hurts another person in a very bad way, usually to get some information or to punish them. It is very wrong and is not allowed by the rules.
Unfortunately, the United States has done some bad things in the past and has used torture on people they think might be bad guys or have important information. This is not nice and goes against the rules of being fair and treating people with respect.
The people who were tortured were not treated like human beings, and they were hurt in ways that made them feel very bad. This is not a good thing to do, and the United States has apologized for it and said they will not do it again in the future.
