Touch pieces

Touch pieces are coins or special objects that were believed to have the power to cure diseases or ward off evil spirits. It was a practice common in Europe during the medieval to modern times.

So imagine you are going to a place where you might get sick or something scary might happen. Like a fairy tale with a witch or a dragon. A touch piece is like your magic rock or lucky charm, but instead of keeping it with you, you give it away to someone who needs it more.

For example, if someone is really sick, they might receive a special coin or object that was blessed by a certain saint or religious figure. Holding the touch piece was believed to bring comfort, healing, and protection.

Touch pieces were also given as gifts to travelers or soldiers about to embark on difficult journeys or battles. The idea was that the touch piece would keep them safe and bring them back home.

Nowadays, touch pieces are more of a historical curiosity, but they are still seen as a fascinating glimpse into the past beliefs and traditions of our ancestors.
