Toxicokinetics

Toxicokinetics is all about what happens to toxic stuff - like chemicals or drugs that can make you sick - inside your body.

When you eat or drink something toxic, it goes into your stomach and your body starts to break it down. This is called absorption, and it means that the toxic stuff is starting to get into your bloodstream.

From there, the toxic stuff goes through your body and can end up in different parts of you, like your organs or muscles. This is called distribution.

Then, your body starts to try to get rid of the toxic stuff. It does this by breaking it down even more, through things like enzymes in your liver or kidney filtration. This is called biotransformation or metabolism.

Finally, whatever is left over of the toxic stuff is eliminated from your body, usually through things like urine or feces. This is called elimination.

So really, toxicokinetics is all about how your body reacts and deals with something that's poisonous. It's important because it helps doctors and scientists figure out how toxic something is, and how it affects the different systems in your body.
