Traditional Chinese holidays are special days that people from China celebrate throughout the year. Many of these holidays come from stories and legends that have been around for thousands of years. Some of the most popular traditional Chinese holidays are the Lunar New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Lunar New Year is the most important holiday in China. It's usually celebrated sometime in January or February. During this time, people gather with their families, give each other presents, and eat special New Year dishes.
The Dragon Boat Festival is a day where people honor the famous hero Qu Yuan. It's usually held in May or June. People build and race boats shaped like dragons and eat special food called “zongzi”, which is made of sticky rice and meat.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. On this day, people gather with family and friends to watch the full moon, eat mooncakes, and set off fireworks. People also make special lanterns that look like animals, birds, or stars.
