Transcendental subject

A transcendental subject is something that knows how to think in a way that is beyond what can be explained by logic and the physical world. For example, the idea of a soul—something that may exist in you and make your life more meaningful—is a kind of transcendental subject. This idea cannot be explained logically, and so it is said to be "transcendental."
