Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is like putting a little battery-powered sticker on your skin that makes your boo-boos feel less bad. It's kind of like how when you rub your arm after you bump it, it feels better. But TENS is more fancy and can help you in lots of different ways.

The sticker, called an electrode, sticks to your skin and sends small electrical signals to your nerves. These signals travel along the nerves and tell your brain to feel something good instead of something bad. The signals also block pain signals from your boo-boo, so your brain doesn't get the message that you're hurting as much.

One great thing about TENS is that it can help lots of different kinds of boo-boos. If you have an achy back, TENS can help ease the pain. If you have a headache, TENS can help make it feel better. Even if you just have an ouchie from playing too hard, TENS can help ease the pain so you can keep having fun.

TENS is really cool because it doesn't use any medicine, so it's safe for almost everyone. And you can use it for as long or as short as you need, depending on how much your boo-boo hurts. Just be sure to have an adult help you put the sticker on and set the right settings for your TENS device.
