ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Transposition table

Transposition tables are like cheat sheets for computers in playing strategy games like chess. If a computer has been in a particular situation before, it can remember what it did then so it doesn't have to work out the best move from scratch each time. A transposition table is a way to remember this data so the computer can quickly and efficiently make the same move again.
