Transylvania
Transylvania is a place in Europe, specifically in the country of Romania. It's famous for being the home of vampires and spooky castles, but in reality it's just a normal place where people live and work.
A long, long time ago, a bunch of different groups of people lived in Transylvania. Some of them were called Dacians and Romans, and they fought each other a lot. Eventually, the Romans won and took over the land.
Then, over the years, a bunch of different groups of people came and went from Transylvania. There were Hungarians and Germans and lots of other people who spoke different languages and had different customs.
Even though lots of different people came and went from Transylvania, it still managed to keep its own unique identity. The people who lived there developed their own language and culture, and they were pretty proud of it.
In the 1400s, a guy named Vlad the Impaler became the ruler of Transylvania. He was really mean and did some pretty scary stuff (like impaling people on spikes), so people started to associate Transylvania with spooky stuff.
But really, Transylvania is just a place where people live, work, and raise their families. It's got cities and towns and fields and forests, just like any other place. And even though it's sometimes associated with scary stuff, it's a pretty cool place to visit if you ever get the chance!
