Treaty of Alcáçovas

The Treaty of Alcáçovas was a treaty signed by Portugal and Castile (a kingdom in Spain) in 1479. It was a way to settle a dispute between the two countries over land in the south of Portugal. The treaty said that Castile was allowed to keep the lands they already had, while Portugal was able to keep the lands that they already had. Both countries also agreed to not fight or make any more claims over the land. This helped to keep the peace between the two countries and is still important today.
