Tree spade

Do you know what a shovel is? It's a tool that people use to dig things up from the ground, like soil, rocks, or plants. Well, a tree spade is kind of like a super big, strong shovel that is made specifically to dig up whole trees!

When someone wants to move a tree from one place to another, they can use a tree spade to carefully dig around the tree and its roots to lift it out of the ground. Tree spades come in different sizes, depending on how big the tree is and how deep its roots go.

The tree spade has four "arms" with flat scoops at the ends that can close around the base of the tree like a big hug. Then, a machine called a "loader" lifts up the tree and its root ball and carries it to its new home.

Using a tree spade to move a tree is a very careful process because the tree is alive, and its roots are very important for keeping it healthy. So, using a tree spade helps move the tree with the least amount of damage to the roots possible, so it can keep growing and thriving in its new spot!
