Trench drain

A trench drain is like a special type of drain that is located in the ground, like a long, skinny ditch that catches water, dirt, and other stuff that might fall onto the ground. It's usually made up of a long, narrow channel that has a grate covering it, so you can't see down into the channel. When it rains or when water is washed over the ground, it flows into the trench drain and goes down into the channel, where it gets carried away. Think of it like a really big straw that sucks up all the yucky stuff on the ground and helps keep things clean and safe.
