ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Trimix (breathing gas)

Trimix is a special kind of air that some people use when they go deep underwater. It's like your regular air that you breathe, but it has a few extra things in it. Trimix is made up of three different gases: oxygen, nitrogen, and helium.

Oxygen is very important for our bodies to work properly, and we need it to breathe. Nitrogen is also in the air we breathe, but too much of it can make us feel weird and dizzy. That's why we need helium, which is a special gas that doesn't do this to us when we breathe it in.

So, when people go really deep underwater, they need to use trimix so they can breathe safely. The oxygen in the trimix helps their bodies work properly, while the nitrogen and helium make sure they don't get weird feelings in their head.

Using trimix is very important for people who love to go deep underwater, like scuba divers or people who explore caves. They need to make sure they can breathe safely, so they can have fun and explore all the amazing things underwater has to offer.
