Trumpet

A trumpet is a musical instrument that makes loud, brass sounds when you blow air into it. Think of it like blowing into a straw, but instead of making a small sound, it makes a big, beautiful noise that everyone can hear.

The trumpet is long and skinny and has three buttons, called valves, that you press down to change the sound it makes. Each valve lets air travel through a different tube inside the trumpet, which changes the pitch, or how high or low the sound is.

A trumpet player holds the instrument up to their lips and buzzes them together to create a vibrating sound, which then goes into the trumpet and out into the world. It takes a lot of practice and skill to play the trumpet well.
