Turner syndrome

So, you know how boys and girls are different? Girls have two X chromosomes and boys have one X and one Y chromosome. Well, sometimes a girl is born with only one X chromosome or part of an X chromosome is missing. This is called Turner Syndrome.

This can make a girl shorter than other girls and it might make it harder for her to learn some things in school like math or reading. It also might mean that she can’t have a baby when she grows up because her ovaries, which are like little containers that hold eggs, don’t develop properly.

Sometimes, girls with Turner Syndrome might have some health problems like heart problems or ear infections. But with good medical care, they can grow up healthy and strong just like any other kids!
