ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Twice exceptional

Twice exceptional (2e) means that someone is really smart (gifted) in some way but also has some difficulties, like a learning disability or ADHD. It's like having two different things at the same time.

For example, imagine your friend can read really fast and understand what they're reading really well (gifted), but they also have a hard time paying attention in class (ADHD). Or maybe they're really good at doing math in their head (gifted), but have a hard time writing with a pencil (dysgraphia).

Being twice exceptional can be hard because people might think you're not smart because you're having a hard time with something. But it's important to remember that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, even if you're twice exceptional. And it's also important to get help with any difficulties you're having, so that you can use your gifts and be successful.
