ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Two New Sciences

Two new sciences are two areas of study that were introduced by a man named Galileo Galilei. Galileo was a very smart man who lived a long time ago and he figured out lots of things about how the world works.

The first new science that Galileo introduced was called "The Science of Motion". This means that he studied how things move, like how a ball rolls or how a bird flies. He discovered that objects move in a certain way and that they stay in motion unless something stops them. He also found out that the force behind an object's motion determines how fast it moves and how far it goes.

The second new science that Galileo introduced was called "The Science of Materials". This means that he looked at the properties of materials, like how strong they are or how flexible they can be. He studied how materials work and discovered that some materials are better for some things than others. For example, he found out that wood is a good material for building things, like houses or boats, because it is strong but also light.

Galileo's two new sciences helped people to understand how the world around them works. They allowed us to discover new things and to create things that are useful in our everyday lives. So, even though Galileo lived a long time ago, his ideas still help us today.
