Hello! Today we’re going to talk about types of places where people live in Russia. There are different types of inhabited localities which are divided based on the size of the population and the urban development of the place.
1. Cities - Cities are big places where a lot of people live, have many businesses, buildings, and transportation. In Russia, cities are divided into two types: federal cities and cities of regional significance. Federal cities are directly under the control of the federal government while cities of regional significance have administrative autonomy under the federal government.
2. Towns - Towns are smaller than cities and have fewer people, businesses, and buildings. However, towns still have all the basic necessities like shops, schools, medical facilities, and transportation.
3. Villages - Villages are even smaller than towns and are usually situated in rural areas. People in villages usually have farms or work in agriculture, hunting, and fishing.
4. Hamlets - Hamlets are even smaller than villages and are often just a small cluster of houses. They may not have many facilities or services, but usually have some basic amenities like a small store or a post office.
5. Selos - Selos are similar to villages in terms of population size but are exclusively located in rural areas.
6. Stanitsas - Stanitsas are agricultural settlements located in the south of the country. They were originally created to provide military support but eventually became a viable living option for farmers.
Those are the main types of inhabited localities in Russia. Each type of place has its own unique characteristics and attractions. People living in these areas can take advantage of different benefits, challenges, and opportunities depending on where they live.
